Property tax assessment appeals

If you disagree with your property’s tax assessment, find out how to appeal.

Before you appeal

Before you submit an assessment appeal, you should meet with the County Assessor to discuss your appeal. You may be able to reach an agreement with the Assessor, so you won’t have to appeal to the Assessment Appeal Board.

If you and the Assessor do not reach an agreement, you can submit an appeal to present your appeal to the Assessment Appeal Board.

Schedule a meeting with the County Assessor

What types of property assessments can I appeal?

You can appeal:

  • Escape assessments
  • Calamity reassessments

Meet with the County Assessor to determine which one applies to your situation.

A separate application is required for each:

  • Property or Parcel Identification Number

How do I appeal a property tax assessment?

The general steps are:

  1. Submit an application for each parcel and assessment type
  2. Pay a $50 non-refundable processing fee for each application
  3. Receive confirmation letter in the mail
  4. Return Hearing Date Confirmation Notice to schedule your hearing
  5. Attend your scheduled hearing in person

Do I need to attend my hearing?
