You don't need to submit plans up front for small jobs.

What is a small job?

Maintenance

Limited-scope residential permits for home maintenance.  

Electrical
  • New/replacement circuits or outlets
  • Service upgrade
  • EV charging station
Plumbing 
  • Natural gas service
  • New/replace plumbing or fixtures
Mechanical 
  • New/replace ductwork
  • New/replace mechanical appliance
  • Siding or stucco replacement
  • Reroofing
  • Non-structural door/window replacement

When a licensed contractor reroofs your home or installs an EV charging station, we accept photo evidence of work in lieu of site inspections.

Minor Improvements

For these projects, you need to have plans ready to show your inspector at the job site. You don't need to submit plans to get your permit.

  • Residential rooftop photovoltaic installations
  • Energy storage system installations
  • Backup generator installations
  • Minor non-structural kitchen and bathroom remodel

Big jobs need plan review approval

We have an online window for permits.

You complete the form and receive an email invitation to submit your plans in electronic format. All plans need to be drawn to scale. 

Snapshot of the approval process – when you submit digital plans 

  1. Submit application online with your deposit fee: 3 days processing time for in-take
  2. Pre-Screen: 15 days to check your submission package
  3. Initial Plan Review: 2 to 4 weeks 
  4. Identify Corrections & Clarifications (case dependent)
  5. Pre-Issuance/Fee Assessment: 3 to 5 days
  6. Fee Payment & Permit Issuance: 3 days
