100 6th Street, Point Reyes Station (6th and B St)

Project proposed under the Marin County Shelter Crisis Declaration.

Background and Summary

On June 10, 2025, the Marin County Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution 2025-46 authorizing the issuance and publishing of the Notice of Intent to Purchase Real Property for the lot located at 6th and B Street in Point Reyes Station (APN 119-198-09).

At the direction of the Board, the Department of Public Works Real Estate Division with Community Development Agency staff, negotiated a Purchase and Sale Agreement for a purchase price of $1,100,000 with the Community Land Trust Association of West Marin (CLAM). The County's purchase of the property will facilitate the temporary use of the property as a homeless shelter as defined in Government Code section 8698 et seq. In this context a "Homeless shelter" means a facility with overnight sleeping accommodations, the primary purpose of which is to provide temporary shelter for the homeless that is not in existence after the declared shelter crisis. A temporary homeless shelter community may include supportive and self-sufficiency development services. A "homeless shelter'' shall include a parking lot owned or leased by a city, county, or city and county specifically identified as one allowed for safe parking by homeless and unstably housed individuals.

The 6th and B Street site was selected after a detailed community-led site evaluation process that prioritized proximity to schools, employment centers, public transit, and essential services, conducted by CLAM and funded by the Marin Community Foundation. CLAM and CDA staff have held multiple community meetings with neighbors, community members and stakeholders to listen to concerns, provide information and answer questions and will continue to conduct outreach and engagement.
