Holiday Light Spectacular - Additional Events

Learn more about the free activities that you can participate in during the Holiday Light Spectacular.

Opening Ceremony

November 28th. The opening night kick-off event starts at 4 PM Friday, November 28 on the Fairgrounds and will feature music by the Marin Barbershop Chorus, glow-in-the-dark juggling, and a countdown to illumination. The first 100 visitors receive a glow necklace and more. 

Marin County's 175th Anniversary Celebration - Letters to the Future

Daily. Participate in Marin’s 175th anniversary by writing a “Letter to the Future." Community members can write a letter addressed to the future—to their descendants, the county itself, or residents 25, 50, or 100 years from now. The letters will be sealed and stored together in a time capsule for the next 175 years.

Food Drive

Daily. Drop off your non-perishable items in the SF-Marin Food Bank bins located inside of the Bartolini Gallery on the Marin Center Fairgrounds. Canned and dry goods will be accepted. View the list of accepted foods. Presented by Marin County Environmental Health Services.

Marin County Sheriff Toy Drive

Daily. Donate new, unwrapped toys for children ages 2-14 years in the bins located inside of the Bartolini Gallery on the Marin Center Fairgrounds. Presented by Marin County Sheriff.

MCA Holiday Art Studio

Daily. Let your imagination sparkle and your creativity shine at the MCA Holiday Art Studio during the Inaugural Marin Holiday Light Spectacular! Enjoy a festive rotation of hands-on projects designed for all ages—and take home a little holiday magic of your own. Presented by the Marin Cultural Association.

Lantern Decorating

November 29th, December 6th & 13th. Marin County Parks staff will be stationed with all the free supplies you need to create and decorate a nature-themed jar lantern to take home! Kids and Adults of all ages are encouraged to participate. Presented by Marin County Parks.

Ugly Holiday Sweater Night

December 2nd. Whether homemade or storebought, come dressed in your ugliest and most dazzling holiday sweaters!

Hanukkah Celebration

December 13th. Stop by to celebrate and learn about the rich history of Hanukkah with our friends from Congregation Rodef Sholom.

Holiday Craft Card Workshop

December 18th. Join printmaker and librarian Amanda Tomlin at the Civic Center Library to create your own winter holiday card. The press will be inked in silver so you can print glittery stars on either the inside or outside of your card. You’ll be able to choose from a variety of papers, different colors, textures, and weights to make a unique card. There will be pens, punches, and stamps for final finishes. All materials are provided. For adults and teens age 13 and up.

The workshop size is limited and Registration is Required. Presented by Marin County Free Library.

Movie Nights

Join us for a cozy movie night inside of the Showcase Theater! Movies begin promptly at 5:30pm and 7:30pm on select nights. All movies will screen with English subtitles. Capacity is limited to 300. 

Guests can arrive as early as 4pm to request a free ticket to be redeemed for any of the showings that day. The theater will open 15 minutes in advance of the showtime, and guests will need to redeem their ticket to be allowed into the theater. Ushers will direct guests and their party to the next available seat. Seat-saving will not be permitted.

Accessible Seating is available. 

Water and beverages with lids are permitted within the Showcase Theater.

No food or open containers are permitted within the Showcase Theater.
