Overview
Some ballots can be enhanced so that the scanner can correctly read them.
The Extraction & Inspection (E&I) Board looks for issues on the ballot that would cause it not to scan correctly, such as with red pen or pencil.
The Duplication (Dup) Board can enhance some ballots.
E&I Board Members only have red ink pens and blue highlighters.
Reason to enhance ballots
- Ballots that are voted in red pen.
- Ballots that are voted in pencil.
Process
- Have another E&I member watch as you enhance votes.
- Mark over each vote with blue highlighter.
- The voter's mark must be visible under the highlighter.
- Do not just fill in the oval, make sure the highlighter is clearly visible.
- Both E&I members initial enhanced ballot in top right corner in red pen.
- Keep the enhanced ballot with the bundle of 50 ballots from tray.
NOTE: If you cannot tell how the voter intended to vote, send ballot to the Duplication Board.
