Election and voter data

Data containing voter registration information is available for purchase from the County Elections Department for campaign purposes only. (Elections Code §2187(g) and §2188)

An application must be completed that includes a detailed explanation of how the data will be used, which will undergo a review and approval process. All applications must be received with an original wet signature, a clear copy of applicant’s current valid driver’s license or state identification card, any accompanying documentation, and payment before the application will be reviewed. Election data requests are processed in the order they are received and may take 2-3 business days for completion.   • Use of this data, including but not limited to using registration information for purposes of communicating with voters, is allowed pursuant to the California Code of Regulations, Title 2, Division 7, Article 1, Section 19003.
  • Voter registration information is confidential. Prohibited uses include but are not limited to advertising, solicitation, sale, or marketing of products, to personal/private/commercial locations; or the harassment of any voter or voter’s household.
  • Voter registration data may not be sold, leased, loaned, reproduced, or possession thereof relinquished without receiving written authorization from the Secretary of State.
  • Any usage that is not on behalf of a candidate or political party, or in support of or opposition to a ballot measure is prohibited.
