Special Tax for Paramedic Services
The San Anselmo Town Council placed this measure on the ballot. If It is approved by two-thirds (2/3) of the voters voting on the measure, the special tax for paramedic services administered by the Ross Valley Paramedic Authority ("RVPA"), wlll be extended and increased for four more years.
The existing RVPA tax for fiscal year 2026-2027 is $103.50 per residential unit or per 1,500 square feet of developed nonresidential property. If the proposed measure is adopted, in fiscal year 2027-2028, the RVPA tax will be $107.50 per residential unit or per 1,000 square feet of developed nonresidential property. Beginning in fiscal year 2028-2029, the San Anselmo Town Council may approve an annual increase to the tax of up to $4.00, for a maximum of $118.00 in fiscal year 2030-2031.
This measure seeks to extend the RVPA tax that was first approved in 1983 and has been extended and increased every four years since that time. If approved, the measure will raise approximately $688,000 annually beginning in fiscal year 2027-2028. As a special tax, the RVPA tax is restricted to use for paramedic services. If the measure is approved, the RVPA tax will terminate automatically on June 30, 2031, unless extended by a future measure.
A "yes" vote on the measure is a vote to approve the extension of the RVPA tax for four years and authorize an incremental increase of up to $4 per year.
A "no" vote on the measure is a vote against extension of the RVPA tax.
