Educator, Attorney, Parent

As a current Miller Creek School District Board Trustee, District parent of two, and a former District student and teacher, I understand our district’s many strengths and unique challenges from multiple perspectives.

For the past eight years, I have dedicated myself to student success by collaborating with board colleagues, school staff, and community members to ensure students have safe, effective learning environments and our educators have the necessary resources for their valuable work. If reelected, I will continue tackling challenges by seeking creative, realistic solutions, combining my personal and professional experience with community input.

My background in education spans decades. I earned my BA and MA (in education) at Stanford University, gaining insights into federal policy, California schools, and issues as varied as school funding and the value of extracurriculars. I then taught history and English at Miller Creek, also coaching basketball and taking students backpacking in Death Valley. I later attended UCLA School of Law, focusing on education law. Currently, I am a law professor and employment attorney.

My passion for education runs deep, and I hope to continue serving our community on the School Board. Together we can prepare our students and schools for an ever-changing future.

Software Engineer, Parent

I am a parent of three children growing up in the Miller Creek School District. I want every child in our community to learn and grow in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. Leadership starts with accountability, and as a board member I will hold our district accountable to the goals it sets for itself. I will also proactively seek feedback from all community members, especially busy families and underrepresented voices who struggle to be heard.

Professionally, I bring 25+ years of experience as a software engineer across finance, manufacturing, education, and tech. I specialize in detail-oriented analysis and creative problem-solving, which I will use to help our district navigate complex challenges and thrive.

As a board member of Can Do!, our district’s fundraising foundation, I understand Miller Creek’s budget challenges firsthand. As a parent of two children with special needs, I am deeply engaged in the special needs community and understand the unique support required to deliver a high-quality education to all learners.

I am eager to serve the Miller Creek community and provide collaborative guidance and accountability so every child has the opportunity to succeed. I respectfully ask for your vote.

Parent, School Volunteer

As a father of twin girls starting middle school this year, I am excited for the future of the Miller Creek School District. I want every MCSD student to enjoy equally challenging, welcoming, and encouraging school experiences.

I have come to know our schools well by volunteering in the classroom and on the recess yard, as well as by creating and running Lucas Valley Elementary’s crossing guard program for the past two years. I chaired the LVE School Site Council, focusing on safety and achievement planning, and I currently serve on the district-wide Local Control and Accountability Plan committee, which provides community feedback to the superintendent and administration as they implement board priorities. I have listened to countless parents and teachers, and I understand our community’s concerns. If elected to the board, I will continue to ensure that your voices are heard by decision-makers.

I am a philosophy professor by training, with over twenty years of collegiate teaching experience. If teaching philosophy has taught me anything, it is how to ask insightful questions. I would be grateful for your vote so that I may continue helping our community find the answers we need, together.

Padre, voluntario Escolar
