Program Information
The Student Elections Ambassador Program (SEAP) empowers young people in Marin County to lead the way in civic engagement.
Launched in 2018 by a local high school student in partnership with the Marin County Elections Department, SEAP has grown into a countywide, youth-led program open to all high school and college students who live or go to school in Marin County.
Through training, hands-on experience, and peer-to-peer outreach, Student Elections Ambassadors gain real-world knowledge about voter registration, pre-registration, and the importance of participating in democracy. Then, they bring that knowledge back to their schools and communities to inspire others.
SEAP is a collaboration between the Marin County Elections Department, the League of Women Voters of Marin County, and the Marin County Office of Education. Together, we provide support, resources, and meaningful opportunities for civic-minded youth to make an impact.
The Student Elections Ambassador Program (SEAP) has two core goals:
- Increase youth voter participation by pre-registering and registering eligible students in Marin County.
- Promote a culture of civic engagement by empowering young people to take an active role in local, state, and federal elections — and to inspire their peers to do the same.
As a Student Elections Ambassador, you’ll gain valuable experience and recognition while making a real impact in your community. Here’s what you can look forward to:
- Build your leadership skills and confidence
- Collaborate with other students or work on your own
- Get guidance from a League of Women Voters advisor
- Earn county-wide recognition
- Log community service hours
- Enjoy flexibility — participate as your schedule allows
- Bring your creativity to outreach — follow proven strategies or create your own path
- Receive a free League of Women Voters of Marin County membership if desired (open to all genders)
- Strengthen democracy by inspiring your peers
Whether you're looking to boost your college applications, build confidence, or simply make a difference, SEAP gives you the tools to lead.
As an Ambassador, you’ll take the lead in organizing outreach and engaging your peers — with plenty of support and resources along the way.
Throughout the year, Ambassadors are expected to:
- Attend at least one in-person planning meeting (next is 2/25/2026 at 5pm)
- Participate in at least two outreach activities or events during the academic year
- Respond to messages from the elections department, your League of Women Voters advisor, and SEAP student leaders
- Share feedback and details about your outreach efforts with the elections department
- Help spread the word and encourage other students to get involved with SEAP
- Complete the End of Year Survey to receive credit for your volunteer hours
We’ll provide you with everything you need — from materials to support — to pre-register and register voters, host events, and help build a more informed and engaged youth electorate.
You will be applying through the County of Marin Volunteer Program application.
