How to choose the right EV

Electric vehicle considerations

Transitioning to an electric vehicle has had a positive impact on our daily lives. We are able to do 95% of our charging at home overnight using just our 220v clothes dryer outlet and the cord that came with our car. We are excited to have no maintenance, drive on 100% green energy, and have a safe space for dogs when out and about, as needed. If you’re considering an electric vehicle, just go for it, there are so many benefits!” - Kevin James Morrison, Novato, CA

Need to know

Thinking about buying an electric vehicle? There are a few considerations to help you choose the right EV for your lifestyle.

What to do

  • Consider your driving habits: On average, how far do you drive each day? (For reference, Americans drive an average of 37 miles a day.)
  • Explore the many rebates available. Depending on income, vehicle type, and price, an EV might be more affordable than you think.
  • What are your charging options? Will you be charging at home or on the go? If you want to learn more about public charging options or at-home installation, visit our EV charging webpage.
  • You'll want to make sure to review MCE's special electric rate for EV owners and PG&E's EV Rates for Residential Customers.
