Low carbon concrete requirements

Learn about Marin County's low carbon concrete code

Marin County's Low Carbon Concrete ordinance reduces greenhouse gas emissions from concrete used in construction, while maintaining building safety and performance. The ordinance is codified in Marin County Building Code, Chapter 19.07 and applies to most concrete poured in unincorporated Marin.

The easiest way to comply is to purchase and use concrete mixes from the County's list of prequalified concrete mixes, available from local ready-mix suppliers.

If you're applying for a building permit, your plans must show that you will use low carbon concrete in your project. To finish your project and close the permit, you'll need to provide receipts showing that compliant concrete was used.
