Community Grants & Investment Program
The County of Marin Community Grants & Investment Program supports one-time/unique programs, projects, community events, or initiatives that provide measurable benefits to the Marin community and align with the Board of Supervisors’ and communities' goals and priorities for the County.
Applications for FY 2026-2027 Community Grants must be submitted via our online grant management platform, Submittable. Applicants must create an account with Submittable in order to apply.

Key Details:

Award Range: $1,000–$50,000
Organizations must submit a focused request for one program, project, community event or initiative. However, the project may contain multiple activities and expenses not to exceed a total request of up to $50,000.
Applicants may only submit one request per organization.
A total of $1.15 million in funding is available to be awarded in FY 2026-2027.

Eligibility: 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), or tax-exempt Community Based Organizations or Nonprofits, or an organization with a tax-exempt fiscal agent/sponsor.
Must provide services to Marin County residents in a fair and inclusive manner, without regard to race, religion, ethnicity or other factors. Preference given to locally based organizations.
Funding is intended for one-time programs, projects, community events or initiatives that provide measurable benefits to the Marin community and that do not clearly fit within the activities of a single County Department.
Funding may be requested for capital projects.
Funds MAY NOT be used for ongoing operations/programs, fundraising, or political/religious activities.
Not required, but preference for requests that reflect 50% or less of the total proposed project costs. Projects, programs, community events or initiatives submitted should also be funded by additional sources.
Preference is given to organizations who partner or collaborate with other non-profits or community organizations on the project, program, community event or initiative.
Preference for unique, innovative, one-time programs, projects, community events or initiatives that align with County goals or Board priorities including but not limited to:
- Increasing affordable housing and homelessness response
- Building a racially equitable community
- Reducing emissions and building climate-resilient communities
- Enhancing disaster and emergency preparedness
- Improving community and economic vitality
- Investing in Marin County's infrastructure

Funding Period: Funds are to cover expenses incurred between July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027.
Unspent funds must be returned to the County.
A six-month extension beyond June 30, 2027 may be requested with reasonable justification.

The Community Grants & Investment Program application is only open once a year and funds projects, programs, community events or initiatives planned for the upcoming fiscal year.

Grant Recipients or their Fiscal Agent/Sponsor will be required to become a Vendor of the County of Marin in order to receive funds. Applicants DO NOT need to be a County of Marin Vendor to apply for a Community Grant.

Letters of Support: Once you submit an application, organizations may include Letters of Support (max 3) from external key stakeholders related to your project, program, community event or initiative.
Letters of Support are NOT required to be considered for this grant.
The Marin County Board of Supervisors WILL NOT provide Letters of Support for organizations applying to the Community Grants & Investment Program.
Letters of Support must be submitted by June 30, 2026 at 12:00 pm PST (Noon).

Reporting Requirements: Once the funds are fully expended, grantees must submit a Notice of Completion (NOC) Form to the County.
A brief narrative report on project, program, community event or initiative status will be required for all awardees and posted on the County public-facing website.
