Bay Area Multifamily Building Enhancements (BAMBE) Program
The Bay Area Regional Energy Network's (BayREN) BAMBE program provides per unit rebates and no-cost technical assistance for multifamily property owners and managers for energy efficiency and electrification projects.
Qualifying upgrades include:
- Heating & cooling systems
- Water heating systems
- Gas to electric conversions
- Lighting & appliances
- Weatherization and insulation
- Electrification measures
- Windows & more
How to enroll
Complete the eligibility form online. You will be contacted by a program representative to set up an initial site visit. Program consultants will work with the property owner/manager to develop a scope of work and determine project rebate amount. Property owners/manager can use their own contractor.
Rebate amount
Rebates start at $500 per unit but can increase based on property location and scope of work. Additional funding may be available for electrification (gas to electric) measures. The BAMBE additional incentive categories based on property location are:
- Health Burdened Adder - an additional $500 per unit served if indoor air quality improvement measures are implemented.
- Heat Burdened Adder - an additional $500 per unit served if resilience to extreme heat measures are implemented.
- Housing Burdened Multiplier - multiply all other program rebates by 1.5x-2.0x AND up to $500 reimbursable per unit for select in-unit appliances.
