AlertMarin Countywide Test – September 26, 2026

AlertMarin is Marin County's main emergency notification system. It's used by local agencies to send real-time alerts during disasters and life-threatening emergencies.  

AlertMarin provides timely instructions in your selected language for incidents such as:

• Wildfires
• Flooding
• Evacuations
• Other emergencies where immediate action is needed  

Notifications can be delivered by phone call, text message, or email. 

Marin County Office of Emergency Management will conduct a countywide AlertMarin test on Saturday, September 26, beginning at 10:00am.  

This test helps us make sure that AlertMarin is ready to deliver critical information if an emergency happens.

• If you're currently registered for AlertMarin, you'll get a test notification.
• The notification will be sent in English or Spanish, based on the settings in your AlertMarin account.
• The test notification will be sent via the contact methods you chose, which could include text message, phone call, and email. 

Registration takes less than five minutes. Your information can be updated at any time. Everyone who lives or works in Marin County should register for AlertMarin. 

You can register up to five addresses. We suggest adding your home, workplace, child’s school, and/or a family or friend’s house.

If you’re already registered, log in to your account to review your contact information and addresses to make sure they’re current.  

AlertMarin also offers optional Notification Groups. These groups are for awareness-based information that may not meet the threshold for an emergency alert. You can review and update your Notification Group preferences when you log in to your AlertMarin account. 

Notification Groups are not location-based. Anyone who subscribes to a group will receive notifications about that topic regardless of where they live in Marin County. 

For example, if you live in San Rafael and subscribe to the Prescribed Burns group, you may receive notifications about prescribed burns taking place in other areas of the County. 

Available topics include: 

• Significant Weather Alerts
• Coastal Flooding and King Tides
• Riverine and Creek Flooding
• Prescribed Burns
• Significant Traffic Disruptions

iPhone

• Save AlertMarin (877-627-1411) as a Contact and tap Done.
• In Edit, select “Ringtone,” turn on “Emergency Bypass,” and tap Done.

Android

• Save AlertMarin (877-627-1411) as a Contact and tap the Star icon to favorite.
• In Settings, search “Do Not Disturb.”
• Select “Calls and Messages,” then “Add Contacts” to include the AlertMarin contact.

We recommend adding your home’s landline to your AlertMarin account as a second contact method.

If you don’t receive the test notification, log in to the AlertMarin User Portal. Make sure your contact information and addresses are accurate and up to date. If you don’t have an account, you can create one through the portal.
