Having set evacuation zones helps first responders prepare for, and respond quickly, when an emergency happens. Evacuation zones help streamline the evacuation process, reduce confusion, and help residents evacuate quickly.
How to find your evacuation zone
Type in or click on your address in this map. Below your address, you will see a Zone ID. This tells you what evacuation zone your address is in. If there is a current alert for your area, the alert will also be displayed on the Public Emergency Portal, Emergency.MarinCounty.gov.
While it’s important to know your evacuation zone, AlertMarin alerts will always include the boundaries of an incident.
What evacuation statuses mean
- Evacuation Order (red). An immediate threat to life. This is a lawful order to leave now. The area is lawfully closed to public access.
- Evacuation Warning (yellow). A potential threat to life and/or property. Those who require additional time to evacuate, and those with pets and livestock should leave now.
- Shelter In Place (purple). An order to go indoors. Shut and lock doors and windows. Prepare to self-sustain until further notice and/or you are contacted by emergency personnel for additional direction.
- Evacuation Order Lifted (green). It is safe to return to your home. Be aware of your surroundings and go through the returning home checklist.
- No alerts (white). There is no current knowledge of threats affecting your area and you can carry on with normal activity.
Evacuation routes
We don’t show evacuation routes in the ZoneHaven map. This is because evacuation routes are always incident-specific. The best route to take is always relative to the location and type of threat. When an emergency evacuation takes place, law enforcement will direct traffic. If you use the app WAZE, you will automatically be directed away from a zone under an evacuation order.
