Body of News Release

Marin County, CA – The Marin County Elections Department has tabulated more than 82,600 ballots, including vote-by-mail and ballots cast at vote centers, since election night.

That means ballots from approximately 48% of registered voters have already been tabulated, which will increase as vote-by-mail and provisional ballots and ballots dropped off at drop boxes by 8 PM on Election Day are processed.

Voters cast their ballots in person at nine vote center locations, by mail, and at 14 drop box locations throughout the county.

Registrar of Voters Natalie Adona said staff members are working as quickly as possible, while focusing on accuracy to process ballot returns.

“Marin County voters have, once again, showed up to participate in the democratic process. Our entire staff thanks everyone for voting,” Adona said. “We still need to retrieve mailed ballots from the post office, which we can accept through November 12 due to the Veterans Day holiday. At this stage, we’re making our most reasonable estimate that we can while uncounted ballots are processed.”

A detailed update on the number of unprocessed ballots will be released at or before 3 PM on Thursday, November 6.

The Elections Department estimates that it received approximately 29,500 ballots on Election Day and the day before. Mailed ballots may be received up to seven days after an election as long as they are postmarked by Election Day.

The last Election Night results were posted on November 4 at 10:45 PM.

Results will be updated at approximately 5 PM on November 7, 12, 14, and 19, with further updates as needed. All updates will be posted at www.marinvotes.org.

By law, the Elections Department must certify and report final election results to the Secretary of State no sooner than December 2.

Updates about the number of ballots remaining to be processed will be posted on the Elections Results page and on the Secretary of State’s website as results are updated.

The Marin County Elections Department appreciates the public’s patience, as staff work to ensure every eligible vote is counted accurately.
