Marin County, CA – Cutting household costs is a huge motivator for anybody paying monthly bills. For many, being mindful of greenhouse gas emissions and adding climate-friendly practices into regular routines is another big priority. Cutting costs and being green will come together Saturday, May 16, in downtown Novato at a free street festival called Our Bright Future: Clean Energy Expo.

The expo, scheduled for 10 AM to 1 PM, will be set up in front of Novato City Hall on Sherman Avenue in the same location as the Tuesday farmers market. The second annual Our Bright Future event will be the place to…

  • get free advice from energy efficiency and electrification experts
  • learn about rebates and incentives for energy efficiency and electrification projects
  • watch live product demonstrations
  • ask local contractors about options for solar, battery storage, water heaters, HVAC, and kitchen appliances
  • learn about electric vehicles and e-bikes, and
  • investigate sustainable transportation opportunities and incentives.

The Clean Energy Expo is hosted by the City of Novato in collaboration with North Marin Community Services, County of Marin’s Climate and Sustainability Division, MCE, and Ride & Drive Clean. Businesses and other vendors will be on hand to guide visitors through the process of home improvement projects. Participating exhibitors are listed on the City of Novato’s website.

It’s going to be a family-friendly event with kids’ activities, prizes, and giveaways. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

The County’s Climate and Sustainability Team, a division of the Office of the County Executive, will have an information booth and dollhouse model that brings to light all sorts of electrification and energy efficiency opportunities. The Sustainability team develops programs to promote renewable energy, address climate change, encourage green building, recognize green businesses and implement energy efficiency projects throughout Marin County. The policies and programs help ensure that Marin is healthy, vibrant and sustainable for many generations into the future.

All Sustainability Team public events can be found on its calendar.

For the May 16 expo, visitor parking will be available on the downtown streets and in nearby civic lots. Traffic will be impacted by the temporary street closure.
