Body of News Release
Marin County, CA – Potential candidates in several Marin County races scheduled for the June 2 Statewide Direct Primary have been given a few extra days to file papers and run for local offices.
Marin County Registrar of Voters Natalie Adona said the new filing deadline is 5 PM Wednesday, March 11, for entrants in the race for State Assembly (District 12), County Supervisor (District 5), and the Almonte Sanitary District, which handles wastewater services for an unincorporated neighborhood just south of the Mill Valley city limits.
Five-day extensions are provided by state law when an incumbent does not file for reelection. The initial deadline of 5 PM March 6 passed without incumbent filings for those seats. Incumbent District 12 Assemblymember Damon Connolly is running for a state Senate seat, and incumbent District 5 County Supervisor Eric Lucan is running to replace Connolly in the state Assembly.
A list of candidates who have taken or filed papers to run for both local and statewide offices is published on the Elections Department website.
