Body of News Release

Marin County, CA – The deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, February 7, to apply for seats representing Districts 2, 3, 4 and at-large on the Marin County Planning Commission. Residents of Marin County are invited to apply.

Five of the seven commission members’ terms are expiring January 31, but the Marin County Board of Supervisors is welcoming commissioners with expiring terms to continue serving until decisions are made about reappointments.

With members appointed by the Supervisors, the Planning Commission reviews and makes recommendations to the Board on all countywide and community plan elements and amendments, master plans, and rezonings. The commission has final authority (pending appeal to the Board of Supervisors) on subdivisions, design reviews, use permits, and other planning decisions appealed from planning staff actions. The commission also hears appeals of the findings of the Deputy Zoning Administrator and actions of the County's planning staff.

Apply online or learn more about the application process by calling the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors at 415-473-7331. Request an application by mail at: Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, Suite 329, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael CA 94903, or by email.
