Marin County, CA — Good news for Marin County residents: Local driving under the influence (DUI) education and recovery services are back. Recover Medical Group is now offering the court-required program right here in Marin, making it easier for people to get the help they need without leaving the county.

Marin’s previous provider closed in August 2024, creating a temporary service gap and forcing individuals to seek DUI services virtually or in neighboring counties. The reopening marks a key step in reducing barriers to access, supporting both public safety and recovery.

“This program is critical for both accountability and rehabilitation,” said Dr. Todd Schirmer, Director of the Behavioral Health and Recovery Services Division for the Marin Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). “Having a local option helps remove logistical burdens that can delay or prevent compliance.”

The District Attorney’s Office notes that DUI is the most frequently charged crime in Marin County, highlighting the importance of education surrounding a serious public safety issue.

Referrals are typically made through Marin County Superior Court, the Public Defender’s Office, Probation, and District Attorney’s Office. An updated information sheet for referring agencies is in development.

Recover Medical Group offers a Wet Reckless program, first offender three-month program, and 18-month program for repeat offenders. Services are available in-person at 851 Irwin Street, Suite 304, in San Rafael.  Some services are also available virtually via telehealth.

Recover Medical Group’s DUI Program can be reached by email or at 415-259-6099.  More details about the program are available on the Marin HHS website.
