Marin County, CA – On August 16, the public can learn life-saving skills through hands-on training at the annual Marin County Sidewalk CPR event.
"With just a few minutes of your time, you can gain the skills to save a life,” said Christian Lombard, emergency medical services (EMS) specialist with Marin County. “Whether it’s cardiac arrest, overdose, or severe bleeding, learning how to respond before EMS arrives can be the difference between life and death.”
Sidewalk CPR will take place on Saturday, August 16, from 10 AM to 2 PM, across 13 outdoor locations throughout Marin County. This event is free and open to all ages.
Organized by the Marin County Health and Human Services (HHS) Department in partnership with local emergency services agencies, hospitals, and community partners, this countywide event empowers residents to step in and save lives in an emergency.
In just a few minutes, participants can receive training in:
- Hands-Only CPR – the lifesaving technique proven to double or triple survival after cardiac arrest.
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use – a simple device anyone can use to restart a heart.
- Stop the Bleed – how to control severe bleeding in emergencies.
- Narcan administration – how to reverse an opioid overdose quickly and safely.

Sidewalk CPR is part of a growing movement to increase public access to life-saving knowledge and equip community members to act confidently in a crisis.
Medical emergencies can happen at any time, Marin EMS encourages everyone to take a few minutes on Saturday, August 16, to learn or refresh their lifesaving skills.
