Body of News Release

San Rafael, CA – It will be a high-voltage experience when the County of Marin hosts its first Marin County Electrification Career Fair, co-sponsored by MCE, on Saturday, September 14, at the County Fairgrounds in San Rafael. It’s all free.

From 10 AM to 3 PM, visitors will get a chance to engage with industry experts who can enlighten attendees about career and training opportunities. Potential employers will be on hand to talk with high school students, college students, and individuals looking to transition their career paths into the fields of electric vehicles (EVs), home and building electrification, and renewable and clean energy. The event will include resources for skills development, and some industry personnel might be ready to interview job candidates on the spot.

“We’re excited to bring this opportunity to Marin County,” said Dana Armanino, Planning Manager with the Marin County Sustainability Team. “If we are going to achieve our climate goals we will need to expand the electrification workforce, and this is a great first step.”

Just a few of the special live workshops include:

  • 7 Ways to Crush Your Interview with Cara Wasden with Speak & Be Heard
  • Crafting Resumés for Success in the Electrification Sector led by Jo Sorrentino with Green Workforce Pathways
  • Empowering Women in Trades: Careers in Electrification and Beyond
  • Hiring for the Electrification Revolution with Cheryl Franklin with Tradeswoman Inc., and Stephanie Hall from International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW)

Among the local businesses and exhibitors registered with the Electrification Career Fair are:

  • John Owens Services
  • Canal Alliance
  • California Jobs First
  • The LIME Foundation
  • Tradeswomen, Inc.
  • IBEW Local 551

The event is free, but online registration is encouraged

The event will take place inside Exhibit Hall. The Marin County Fairgrounds are at 20 Avenue of the Flags, just behind the Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium and adjacent to Lagoon Park. Food and child care will be provided at the event.

Event co-sponsor MCE provides fossil-free energy to ratepayers in several San Francisco Bay Area counties, including Marin. MCE is a Community Choice Aggregation program that offers alternative, often greener and more affordable energy while using Pacific Gas & Electric Company for delivery and billing.
