San Rafael, CA – On Tuesday, September 24, the Marin County Probation Department led a multi-agency DUI operation targeting 42 individuals with multiple DUI convictions. No positive alcohol tests or violations were reported.
The operation, in collaboration with the Marin County Sheriff's Office and the Marin County District Attorney's Office, focused on ensuring that individuals with past convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs were adhering to the terms of their probation. Funded by a grant from the state’s Office of Traffic and Safety, the initiative allows the Probation Department to conduct compliance checks throughout the community. These proactive safety measures support offender rehabilitation while protecting the public.
The operation resulted in 23 out of 42 offenders being contacted and found to be in compliance with the terms of their probation. There were six cases in which no contact was made. Officers administered 23 drug tests, conducted 25 searches, and verified six ignition interlock devices. No positive alcohol tests or violations were reported.
“These operations help reinforce people’s commitment to sobriety and increase public safety,” said Senior Deputy Probation Officer Yalile Cintron.
During the operation, Deputy Probation Officers provided community members and families with stickers, teddy bears, and purchased ice cream for some children to help build community trust and relationships.
Understanding our role in the community is critical as we work to encourage positive behavior. The Marin County Probation Department remains dedicated to protecting public safety while offering extensive support to those under supervision. By prioritizing both rehabilitation and community safety, we strive to create a safer and healthier environment for all.
