Marin County, CA – The Marin County Tax Collector has mailed 91,229 property tax bills to property owners for fiscal year 2025-26. This year's tax roll totals $1,555,985.121.44, representing a 5.63% increase compared to the prior year.
Property tax payments may be made in two installments or in a single combined payment. The first installment is due November 1 and must be paid by 5 PM Wednesday, December 10, to avoid penalties (or 11:59 PM if it’s an online payment). The second installment is due February 1, 2026, must be paid by the end of business on April 10, 2026, to avoid penalties. Both installments may be paid together on or before the first installment deadline.
For convenience, the Tax Collector's secure online portal and automated telephone system are available for property tax payments. Payments can be made online at www.marincounty.gov/taxbillonline using your parcel number, or by phone at 1-800-985-7277 using your bill number. Credit card payments can be made online and by phone for a 2.35% service fee. Electronic check (e-check) payments are free.
Property owners who have not received their tax bill by mid-October, especially recent homebuyers, should contact the Tax Collector’s office. Bills can also be viewed and printed online at www.marincounty.gov/taxbillonline. Please note that failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve taxpayers of their obligation to make timely payments.
The Tax Collector’s office is in Suite 202 of the Marin County Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael, and is open 9 AM to 4:30 PM weekdays.

Parcel Tax Exemptions
Homeowners aged 65 or older who live in their property as their primary residence may be eligible for certain parcel tax exemptions. For eligibility requirements, contact the taxing districts directly using the phone numbers listed on the property tax bill or visit the County’s webpage on exemptions. Please note that California law does not allow exemptions for school bonds.
Property Tax Postponement (PTP)
Beginning October 1, the State Controller's Office will accept applications for property tax postponements for eligible homeowners who are 62 or older, blind, or disabled. For more information, visit the State Controller’s website, call 1-800-952-5661, or email the office.
