San Rafael, CA – The Marin County Elections Department will see a change in leadership at the end of June. Registrar of Voters Lynda Roberts announced that she is planning to retire after 10½ years with the County of Marin.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as Marin County’s Registrar of Voters and I will treasure the time I served the public in this role and had the opportunity to make a difference,” Roberts said. “The Elections Department team is very talented and remains committed to the principles of fair and impartial elections.”

“The team and I accomplished a lot over the last 10-plus years and now with the November 2024 presidential election under our belt and no statewide elections until later in 2026, the timing works well for transition to a new Registrar of Voters.”

Roberts was appointed in July 2014 after having served as Registrar in Mono County, CA, for seven years. In addition to administering over 30 elections in Marin, Roberts led her team through many changes between 2019 and 2022 including implementing a new voting system; administering the 2020 presidential election during the peak of the COVID pandemic; administering the gubernatorial recall election in 2021; and implementing the vote center model in 2022. Roberts acknowledged the supportive culture in the County organization that helped her meet demands and grow as a leader.

“Since being hired in 2014, I’ve been grateful every day for the opportunity to work with a well-trained team that brings over 100 years of experience to this work,” Roberts said. “The team I joined and the team we’ve built together over the years is the best, and they have made this my dream job come true. I couldn’t have asked for a better place than the County of Marin to finish my career in public service.”

The HR Department will start recruiting soon to fill the position by late spring.
