Marin County, CA – Are you interested in making a positive impact on the lives of older adults in Marin County? The Marin County Area Agency on Aging is looking for dedicated volunteers to support its home-delivered meal program, commonly referred to as "Meals on Wheels." This program provides essential nutrition support to vulnerable, homebound older adults in our community.
Informational Presentations:
Join us for an informational presentation to learn more about the Meals on Wheels program and how you can get involved. You can choose from one of the following sessions:
- Register[External] for Monday, September 18, 9–10 a.m.
- Register[External] for Tuesday, September 19, 1-2 p.m.
What You'll Learn:
- Discover the purpose and scope of the Meals on Wheels program.
- Understand the impact of this program on older adults in our community.
- Learn about the rewards of helping homebound older adults receive nutritious meals.
Volunteer Opportunities:
- Client Assessment Volunteers: Volunteers are needed to conduct regular assessments of program clients. This crucial role helps ensure that eligible older adults can continue to receive the support they need. Commit to a minimum one-year term and contribute at least four hours a week. Training and background checks will be provided.
- Office Aide Volunteers: Help assemble welcome packets and provide office assistance. Your support will streamline program operations. Hours are flexible and will be determined by mutual agreement. Orientation will be provided.
Important Information:
- All volunteers will be part of the Marin County Health and Human Services Department's MarinShares Marin County Volunteers program.
- Volunteers are required to complete harassment-prevention and privacy training and sign a volunteer agreement.
- The Area Agency on Aging operates within the County's Health and Human Services Office of Aging and Adult Services.
