If you’re a property owner with a septic system, getting a building permit is now easier.
The Environmental Health Services (EHS) division of the Marin County Community Development agency has streamlined the process to obtain building permits for property owners with septic systems.
For MAINTENANCE and MINOR IMPROVEMENTS (e.g., solar panels, energy storage systems, non-structural kitchen or bathroom remodels):
1. Visit:
https://cdaportal2.marincounty.org/MarinBuildingPermits/
2. Choose “Login to apply for a self-service permit”.
EHS will no longer need to review your project.
For repairs or replacements of EXISTING PERMITTED decks, pools, spas, foundations, or retaining walls:
1. Visit:
https://cdaportal2.marincounty.org/MarinBuildingPermits/
2. Choose “Submit plans and review permit application”.
These kinds of projects require the submission of plans or blueprints and a wet signature on a hard copy of the permit application.
