Several enhancements are on the horizon across the Civic Center Campus. Each project looks different, but they share the same purpose: creating spaces that are more welcoming, more accessible, and built to serve this community for decades to come.
Civic Center Campus Current Improvement Projects
Center for Food and Agriculture
Status: Fundraising underway
Plans are underway for a new permanent outdoor home for the Marin Farmers Market and the future Food Innovation Hub—a space designed to strengthen education, spark innovation, and support a resilient local food system.
Led by the Agricultural Institute of Marin (AIM)—the nonprofit that operates the Marin Farmers Market and supports local farmers, food producers, and entrepreneurs—the new center will become a vibrant, climate smart gathering place that will serve farmers, chefs, and the community for many years to come.
Thanks to the generosity of our community, we've already raised $7.6 million toward making this vision a reality. There's still more to do, and your support can help bring this project to life for future generations.

Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium (VMA)
Status: Under Construction – Reopening January 2027
The VMA is receiving a series of upgrades to keep it a dependable place for performances and community events. As it approaches its 50year anniversary, these improvements will help protect its history while making sure it serves the community well into the future. The VMA is scheduled to reopen in January 2027.

Civic Center Café
Status: Planning Underway
The Civic Center Café will be refreshed to create a brighter, more welcoming destination for employees, visitors, and the community. Guided by placemaking principles, the project will transform the café into a vibrant gathering space that encourages connection and enhances the Civic Center experience.
The draft design concept includes a modern food counter for grab-and-go food service, flexible spaces for meetings and events, outdoor seating, upgraded furnishings, improved lighting, sustainability features, technology upgrades, and other enhancements to create a more comfortable, functional, and inviting environment.
