Marin County and the State of California recognize the lack of affordable housing, especially for local workforce. This is why we are collaborating on solutions. In Marin, almost two-thirds of workers commute from outside of the County. This contributes to more traffic in the community and the region.
This project is being developed on surplus land owned by the State of California. The property is located in the San Quentin area of unincorporated Larkspur.
The proposed housing project is a partnership between Eden Housing and Educational Housing Partners. The Workforce Housing component is being developed by Education Housing Partners and will be owned and financed by the Marin County Public Financing Authority, a joint powers authority formed by the County of Marin and the Marin County Office of Education. 250 new affordable units are planned in 2 residential communities:
- Workforce housing for educators and County staff who meet income requirements (135 units)
- Extremely low- and low-income households (115 units)
In 2025, a household of four earning approximately $155,000 or meets the low-income threshold.
Estimated project completion
This project is anticipated to be complete in 2028.
