Project Description
The applicant of the 108 Arenal Ave LLC Coastal Development Permit, Tentative Map, Use Permit, and Design Review Project (Project) proposes to demolish the existing structures located at 15 Calle Del Mar and 108 Arenal Avenue and to construct six residential units and a mixed-use building with a Post Office on the lower level. The Project entails the construction of four market-rate detached residential units and two attached affordable (moderate-income) residential units located above a commercial space in the mixed-use building. The lower level of the mixed-use building would contain 1,250 square feet of commercial space intended for the Post Office, storage, trash enclosures, and carports, with the second floor including the two attached residential units. The total proposed residential floor area would contain 9,435 square feet. Each residential unit would include at least one deck, covered parking, and storage.

The Planning application (P5985) for the proposed Project was deemed complete on July 31, 2026. On August 18, 2026, a project status letter was sent to the Project applicant informing them that the Project would be subject to environmental review pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
The County will be preparing an Initial Study for the proposed 108 Arenal Project pursuant to CEQA. The Initial Study will evaluate the Project’s potential environmental effects and will inform the County’s determination regarding the appropriate level of environmental review under CEQA. Additional information regarding the environmental review process and opportunities for public participation will be posted on this webpage as it becomes available.
