The Notice of Extended Comment Period for the Draft Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration (IS/MND) for the Muir Woods Road Improvement Project. The Federal Highway Administration–Central Federal Lands Highway Division, in cooperation with the Marin County Department of Public Works, the National Park Service, and the California Department of Parks and Recreation, is proposing to improve a segment of Muir Woods Road in Marin County. Proposed improvements include resurfacing, restoring, and rehabilitating the roadway; stabilizing slopes; and replacing the existing bridge over Redwood Creek. An Environmental Assessment (EA) is available for review concurrently with the IS/MND on the County's environmental review project webpage. The public comment period for the Draft IS/MND commenced on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 and was extended to Friday, May 29, 2026 at 4:00pm.
