Marin County Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan - Gnoss Field

This initiative revises our land use rules for properties around Gnoss Field airport.

What is the Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan?

The Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan (ALUCP) aims to harmonize future land use surrounding the Gnoss Field airport with airport operations. Its policies foster public safety and preserve the airport as a community asset.

Learn more  about how and where the ALUCP applies, it’s relationship to the airport master plan and airport layout plan, the crosswind runway, and other information.

Read this fact sheet for an overview of airport land use compatibility planning.  It is important to note that the airport land use plan does not have any authority over the airport’s development or operation.

Why are we updating the ALUCP?

The Airport Land Use Commission (ALUC) first adopted the ALUCP in 1991 and it is now over thirty-two years old. We commit to modernizing the ALUCP to:

  • Adhere to statutory requirements.
  • Incorporate contemporary guidance from the 2011 California Airport Land Use Planning Handbook.
  • Safeguard public health, safety, and welfare.
  • Account for changes in current and forecasted airport operations.
  • Align with current land use priorities.
