Need to know
Proper battery disposal can decrease the environmental impact of electronic waste. Incorrect disposal can lead to soil and water contamination and fire risk.
Before you start
You’ll know your battery has reached its end of life when it doesn’t work as well as it used to. You might notice your battery doesn’t charge as fast, isn’t as powerful, or doesn’t take you as far as it did when it was new. You’ll only need to replace your battery, not your bike, when you notice it’s not working as well.
What to do
The recycling process is simple. You'll need to locate a collection facility for e-waste. You can visit one of these locations:
- Zero Waste Marin[External]
- Call2Recycle[External]
- Redwood Materials[External]
- ERI Recycling Kits[External]
- CalRecycle[External]
- Recycle Locator[External]
After you drop off your battery, trained experts dismantle the batteries for recycling.
