About This Position
The FIRE Education Internship is a six-month program designed to provide underserved and underrepresented individuals with the opportunity to explore careers in fire service and emergency medical services (EMS) through hands-on coursework.
In partnership with the College of Marin, interns can enroll in either Semester A—featuring Fire Technology and Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) courses—or Semester B, which focuses on Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training.
Classes are held in the evenings at the College of Marin’s Indian Valley Campus from 5:00–10:00 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, making the program accessible for those balancing work or other commitments.
Interns who successfully complete Semester A have the option to continue into Semester B to further advance their training and career pathway.
What FIRE Foundry Provides
- FIRE Foundry helps reduce financial barriers by covering the cost of tuition not paid for by financial aid.
- Textbooks are available on loan for the semester for interns who need them.
- To support your success, FIRE Foundry also provides group tutoring for both EMR and EMT coursework.
- As an Education Intern, you’ll have access to professional development opportunities, such as mock interviews and career-readiness workshops, to help you build skills and prepare for a career in fire service, EMS, or related fields.

Applications for Spring 2027 cohort will open September 21, 2026. The Spring 2027 Semester B, which requires prerequisite courses, will focus on Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training.

FIRE Foundry Fuels Crew Student Intern
The FIRE Foundry Fuels Student Internship is a 1-year entry-level paid position responsible for both wildland fuels reduction and participation in educational and professional development activities through the FIRE Foundry program.
