What is a Safe Haven location?
All Marin County fire stations are places where babies can be safely surrendered, under the Safely Surrendered Babies law.
We also provide a temporary safe place for anyone who might be a victim of abuse, neglect, or violence. We try to provide a safe place of refuge for any victim, regardless of age.
What is the Safely Surrendered Babies law?
The Safely Surrendered Babies law allows parents to surrender a baby at a Safe Haven location. People who do this don’t have to be afraid that they’ll be prosecuted for abandoning a baby. The law is meant to encourage people to surrender babies safely, rather than leaving babies in unsafe environments.
