What we do
We train all Marin County firefighters. In the past, training was limited to fighting wildland fires. Today, our firefighters have the skills and training to respond to many kinds of hazards.
In addition to fighting wildland and structural fires, our firefighters are trained in:
- Hazardous material response;
- Urban and confined space search and rescue;
- Providing advanced life support (including automatic defibrillation and CPR).
Our in-house training courses include:
- A basic fire academy for new employees;
- A wildland fire academy for seasonal firefighters and other agencies;
- A water tender operations course;
- An off-road driving course.
