Application Period for Assessment Appeals Opens July 2

Taxpayers who disagree with assessed property value have a way to be heard.

Marin County, CA – Marin County property owners who disagree with the assessed value on their 2026-27 regular property tax bill have between July 2 and November 30 to file an appeal with the Marin County Assessment  Appeals Board.

The form and instructions to appeal an assessment are available on the  County website. Forms also may be picked up in the Board of Supervisors' office (Suite 329) at the Marin County Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael.

Residents must fill out an assessment appeal application for each assessor's parcel or property identification number. There is a $50 non- refundable processing fee for each application.

The Assessment Appeals Board, which hears appeals from taxpayers on property assessments, is governed by the rules and regulations of the Board of Equalization and Property Tax Laws of the State of California.
