Need to know
If you filed for a construction permit to build or renovate a food facility, it’s your responsibility to make sure that construction follows those plans exactly.
Before you start
Some projects may require changes to the plans after approval. For example:
- You may realize you need alterations in the layout or equipment
- You have to work around problems on the site discovered during construction
- Construction has proceeded in a way that doesn't follow the plans
If this happens, you need to take action right away.
What to do
1. Contact Environmental Health Services
Let us know why you need to update your plans. We can offer helpful guidance.
If construction has already started, you will have to stop work.
2. Revise your plans
Your plans need to show exactly how the food facility will be constructed or renovated, including changes to equipment model. If you don’t include all of the required information, we have to reject your plans.
Get more details on how to prepare your plans in plan check guide for food facilities.
3. Submit your revised plans and other documents
Make sure to include manufacturer’s specifications, hood exhaust data sheets, and any other documentation the plan review specialist asked for.
You must submit all application materials at the same time. If you forget a required part of the application, we have to reject it and you have to resubmit.
