Marin City Pond Pump Station Flood Reduction Project

Resumen

Project Description

Description

The Marin County Flood Control District is proposing to construct a new pump station at the Marin City Pond near the Gateway Shopping Center in Marin City. Under current conditions, the upland residential areas of Marin City flood during heavy rains, and the lowland areas of Marin City flood when heavy rains are coupled with high tides in Richardson Bay. This flooding is caused in part by the existing undersized storm drains in the area which create a bottleneck for stormwater. The proposed Project would construct a new platform-type pump station at the northeast corner of the Pond to provide a permanent solution to reduce flooding in Marin City and to maximize the limited flow capacity across U.S. Highway 101 by diverting flood waters to Richardson Bay via a culvert located within the Caltrans right-of-way.
