Each year, the County prepares several budget documents:
- Proposed budget: Includes information about County services and an overall profile of Marin County. The Office of the County Executive presents to the Board of Supervisors annually in June for the upcoming fiscal year (July 1 to June 30). While this document is titled the "Proposed Budget" -- it becomes the final budget once the Board adopts it in June.
- Budget in Brief: Provides a high-level overview of the budget.
- Final budget: This is a technical financial budget document that includes financial detail on all budgets, including for special districts. This is finalized several months into the fiscal year -- well after the Proposed Budget is adopted in June.
